GFR Games is Threat Tape LLC doing business under a name that fits the work better. Same company, same person, same tax ID. The security and governance software still ships under Threat Tape. The games ship here.

The split happened because the two halves stopped explaining each other. A compliance buyer does not need to scroll past a tower defense game, and nobody looking for a card game wants to read about NIST CSF control mappings first. Both were living on one site under a heading called the Mad Scientist Lab, which was an honest description of how the games got started and a bad description of what they've become.

Thirty years in and around the gaming industry is the actual explanation. Seventeen of them running Dragon Con's Video Gaming Track, still going back as a featured speaker. Blizzard once made me an NPC bartender in World of Warcraft because a developer liked one of my drinks. Co-owner of a fan convention called Nerdi Gras. Most of my closest friendships started over a game. That does not leave you; it just waits for you to have enough free evenings.

So some of these started at 2 a.m. because they sounded fun and then would not let go. Others started because I wanted to play something specific and nobody had built it. Trench Defense I am building with my kid, which makes it the most important one on the list for reasons that have nothing to do with the game. None of them are finished. That is the honest state of the bench, and it is why the contact form is mostly there for people who want to tell me what's broken.
